How can we best share our research with the folk scene?
April 2025 – ongoing
Access Folk wants your feedback on the types of information that are useful to you as a folk singer, audience member, organiser, or someone who identifies with the folk scene in England. We also want to know the best ways of getting that information to you!
Fill out our ‘How can we share research with folk singers’ survey to have your say!
The survey takes about 15 minutes. You’ll find questions about your role in the folk scene, topics that you’re interested in learning about, the ways you prefer to communicate, and diversity monitoring (these questions help us make sure we’re reaching a good cross-section of the scene).
The closing date for submissions is 30 June 2025.
Why are we asking for your input?
There’s an important principle in participatory research: no research about us without us.
Participation is at the heart of everything that Access Folk does. The research we lead, partner on, and support is built on consultation with a range of people from across the folk scene – from individual singers and audience members, to promoters and venues, to folk club and festival organisers, to charities and folk arts organisations. To date our activities include:
We’re also guided by an advisory board of 12 dedicated people representing a variety of interests from across the scene.
As we move into the final stages of our project, we want to make sure the knowledge you’re helping create is assembled in formats that are useful – not just another dusty tomb in a library or a broken link on your computer…
What have we done with the knowledge you’ve shared?
So far, we’ve created a series of reports, podcasts, presentations, blogs and postcards. You can learn more and download copies from our resources page.
