The Folk Organisers' Network is for people who run folk singing and music activities to share resources, ideas, and support each other as we work alongside each other to build a more inclusive folk scene. Members are mostly based in England, but people living further afield are very welcome. We have discussions on WhatsApp and at occasional online and in person meetings around various topics including venues, booking diverse artists, approaches to publicity to reach different people, ideas to make events more appealing to different kinds of people. We offer a space to share experiences, including issues and constructive solutions. This is not a space to argue about what ‘counts’ as folk song/music or the ‘right’ way to do things. Local contexts, needs, and interests can vary widely so let’s celebrate efforts to build participation, and leave policing the tradition to other spaces.
If you would like to join, or invite someone else to join, the WhatsApp group is the place to start and you'll hear about other meetings through here.
